This type of narrative shows a typical British Horror movie because we see ; the blood from where charcters have been attacked. the arms used. charcters being issolated. huge forest infinites. the miss being left on her ain to support for herself and so on. However this besides contradicts what a British Horror movie is because we don’t see the normal narrative line to a movie. When people usually think of British Horror films they think of ; a dangerous/villian adult male. the ghost/monster like character or the atmospheric music used within the movie. However with Eden Lake the villian is a group of young persons which is really different to the stereotyped Birtish Horror movies so this gives the movie a piece of originallity.

Fictional characters:

The characters within Eden Lake make the movie British instantly because they are British themselves so they will non hold to utilize an speech pattern as much whilst playing or alter much about themselves. We see the likes of histrions Jack O’Connell. Kelly Reilly. Michael Fassbender and others. These are extremely rated and good known British histrions playing the characters in Eden Lake. The characters within the movie besides show the difference between certain categories within Britain. Them being ; center and lower category. The in-between category characters being Jenny and Steve who are clearly affluent and are able to handle themselves to certain luxuries. This is because we see Steve driving a 4?4 auto which is an point of luxury and position. so we besides see that he has bought an battle ring for Jenny which looks instead expensive.

Whereas we see the other characters in the movie such as Brett. Cooper. Paige who are in the lower category of Britain non hold these luxuries. They dress instead ‘chav’ like and so make their parents. This besides gives us the representation that the kids are a batch like their parents. So as the movie evolves and we realise that Brett has been a sick person of kid maltreatment because of his male parent. doing the audience realise this is why Brett is capable of what he has done to Jenny and Steve because he has become a manmade monster ( a merchandise of his male parent ) .

The categories are besides shown by the manner the characters speak and use their organic structure linguistic communication. For illustration the lower category characters frequently swear and come across as aggressive which is what a batch of British people think of them. Then the in-between category characters are good spoken. they are really judgemental of state of affairss and do non like to do struggle. However this representation I believe is unjust because anyone can be aggressive towards people or curse a batch merely because they are portion of the lower category within Britain does non intend they are all like this.

Location:

The location in which Eden Lake is set in is really British because we see the huge countryside. a batch of wood but so besides the local communities within their saloons and corner stores etc… This is typically British because near adequate every individual town or metropolis in Britain has a saloon. cafe . corner store and so on. The topographic point in which Steve wants to take Jenny 9Eden Lake ) is really British because we see the quiet. rural country. This is the type of topographic point in which people who want a quiet weekend off in the countryside would desire to travel in Britain.

Decision:

All together I believe that Eden Lake does strecth rather far to turn out that it is a typical British Horror movie because we see alot of British themed stereotypes. the typical British location. the somewhat typical narrative line and so on.
