Is Fashion Important? Fashion means a general term of a famous style or practice; this is more especially in clothing, footwear, makeup, body piercing, and furniture. Also fashion may refer to a very distinctive and more often habitual trend speaking of the style which one dresses, as well as in prevailing styles in behavior. Fashion may also refer to the newest innovations of textile designers.

On the technical form the term costume is so connected with the term fashion in which the use of the previous has been related to special sense like fancy dress or modern wear, while in real sense fashion is supposed to mean clothing in general and the study of it. Fashion may be of feminine or masculine depending on the different aspects. People are dressing differently and behave in such a way that you can distinguish people from the various places which they come from around the world.

Fashion in dressing or behaving has not only been influenced by the society and culture of a given place but also by weather and sometimes may be environment also fashion may be influenced by personal experiences, values of an individual and most importantly beliefs. We can rarely simply identify the society by only looking the way one dresses and behaves.

The following aspects explains the ways in which people have divided over the topic  “is fashion important” and what their reasons are for doing so. Symbolic  may the main reason or one among the reasons for the importance of fashion since fashion may symbolize the certain country or state for example, in western Europe once by then there were laws which were used to prevent people to dress like royalty and therefore by that scenario (320).

It is a symbol of the rising middle class and one from a different society or culture may easily identify or distinguish between the royalty and the rising middle class, the reason of  saying this is more symbolic, other examples are countries  of china where you will find dragons  who were symbolized as the emperors, and no one was allowed to wear the same dresses which the dragons or emperors used to dress, and the reason of saying this remains more symbolic because one would easily recognize a society he or she is only by telling through the way they are dressing, some other examples which explains the reason as to why fashion is important and according to different views from different people is united states during the world war II whereby women were asked to put on the length, and the yardage of fabric for women’s skirts and this was practiced due to the fabric rations therefore one would  recognize the society of united states because of  the way women used to dress during the second world war, currently there are countries which are still  controlling the dressing code of modest women and men due to some ethics, for example in most of the Arabic countries women use to cover their bodies, and faces, therefore it is very easy to identify their culture. Another reason that may influence the importance of fashion or why fashion is important is weather.

In some countries the layers are becoming so important to cover the bodies from the sun or cold weather, In Russia people are used to wear or put on big jackets to protect them from the cold, and many designers from Russia are designing clothes which would suit the condition and that is why most of the designing from Russia is influenced by the  cold weather, while other countries like sub Saharan countries in which most of those countries are hot though out the year the designing is different whereby people are dressing simple cloth because of the high temperature  the main reason of dressing could be for the purpose of warmth and protection, but the roots of  adornment, decoration, and ornamentation must be embraced though the secondary reason is warmth. In Europe especially and French, the countries have been so active in fashions since the countries has many designers in the world and most of their products are in high demand for instance Gucci from Italy, the products such as clothes which are mostly influenced by weather are in high demand, because almost everyone like fashion in Europe. Self-expression could also be another reason as to why fashion is important, and according to different from different people or scholars, self-expression and adornment has been so strong. So many people would put on outfits which will make them look so unique, and one of a kind.

Sometimes the way one may dress is totally against the culture and ethics but only because he or she wants to look differently and unique from others would dress so unique but sometimes if the laws of the certain culture are so strong then someone may change the way he or she dresses. Therefore, different people would say fashion is important, because of the self-expression. Fashion as a communication may tell others what someone wants, what talent he or she has, what are his needs, what are his dispositions? Fashion or clothing cannot be excluded from our society because it can make up as much as it can destroy ones image in the society, clothing or fashion may talk on behalf of a person though it is silent, but it is a very strong communicator and can tell what someone wants and what he or she does not want or the interests, and disappointments of someone.

The experience according to different people says one can be treated fairly only because of the way he or she dresses only by getting attention of people he or she consults. Dressing in the urban can be the perfect way to communicate different ideas, as in person individuality by using an easy way of communication; also this could be another reason as to why fashion is more important. There is no choice of either to be epitomical on fashion by any means, the clothes that one would choose to wear would either make him judged in a right or wrong way and therefore fashion communicates on behalf of the people and people may also judge someone according to the way one looks.

Fashion may also not be important because of the following reasons: Fashion may sometimes be so expensive in such a way not everybody can be able to purchase either the cloth or any materials that one would use so that to look the same with others. Most of the cloths which are made and which are of modern fashion are always so expensive, because most of them are made by expensive materials such as leather, and cotton. Since fashion is too expensive it is always hard to find the uniformity in a society, because others who would not afford the cloth and cannot dress according to the fashion. It is always rich people who are able to dress according to fashion, but for the middle class it is a nightmare though some may try to purchase cloth.

Fashion is also not important, because it can go in and out the popularity so fast, fashions do not last longer in other words they come and go one may try to think back at the time when there used to be hot item, and ever since the shoes lost their touch and will just be found in the closets with dusts, say you bought them for forty dollars in which many teenagers, and parents spent by then where they were very important and no one would want to miss. Therefore, if styles can go in and out plus the money that one spent it may become harder for the fashion to be so important because it may only last for a month. Honestly, one may decide not to keep up with it because of the way fashion moves and changes so fast, it may be important to the singers and actors as for them are the public figure and since paparazzi cannot wait for students with his camera outside, because none of the student is a star therefore he would rather wait for the stars such as musicians to see who can sell millions.
