This gave France hope and allowed them to be more confident and win the war.

The British had seized the fort at Orleans and blocked the road to Reims so France couldn’t get any of their supplies to other parts of the country. Since Joan won back the fort in the Battle at Orleans, it cleared the road to Reims and got France a little bit closer to winning the war. Charles VII was the Dauphin of France during the time period when Joan of Arc was leading the French army. His father signed a peace treaty with Britain that denounced Charles VII rights to the throne.

The Dauphin couldn’t risk his own coronation and break the treaty without being confident that his army could defeat anything the British try and punish him with. She also enabled Charles VII to be coronated and provide France with a French King instead of a British one.
