My goal in this paper is to express my opinions in these 3 topics and provide examples to prove my point. Is it possible to avoid war? Hundreds of years of war prove not. War is “a state of armed conflict between different nations or states or different groups within a nation or state. ” So as long as there is a conflict between nations or groups, there will be war. Even though war doesn’t have to be all about weapons and battling, like the Cold War, it is more of a form of tension between two groups or nation. I believe it is possible to avoid war.

The Neutral Powers Ownsworth 2 seemed to try to avoid war during World War 2 and remained neutral and didn’t take any sides in the war. If they can do it, why can’t the rest of the world? Is war in human nature? Obama says, “War, in one form or another, appeared with the first man. At the dawn of history, its morality was not questioned; it was simply a fact, like drought or disease…” I agree with Obama completely.

War is part of human nature because there will always be people that are trying to take advantage of others. As long as you have those people you will have the need to have people that are willing to go in and remove them from their power. Our world would be so different without war. If the Cold War never happened, Europe would have recovered slower, if at all. The Cold War drove the Americans to offer the Marshall Plan to the devastated countries of Europe in 1948. Without that infusion of money it is likely it would have taken twenty or thirty years for Western Europe to recover from the war.

The War of 1812 was inevitable but if it never existed, Canada would probably not be a country or part of the United States. In conclusion, I believe that war is almost unavoidable, due to conflict between countries, war is in our nature, because there will always be people who want to take advantage of others, and that our world would be so different without those important wars that shaped our world to what it is today.
