This one-piece garment entitled “Penelope” was Grecian inspired whereby the meaning was derived from ‘Pene’ Greek mythology. Inspiration in this piece also stems from the Princess line dress style which is traditionally of Greek origin. When designing this dress Lucashenko’s vision was to fuse classic vintage characteristics with modern romantic elements to create a feminine After-Five piece.

Modifications and detailing through Lucashenko’s creative process allowed her to really make this dress as romantic and feminine as she had envisioned. “To capture the essence of romance in this dress i utilised satin and lace to provide the contrast I was looking for” Lucashenko said. This princess line gown with pleats and gathers was created in soft, Rose Dust with its pinkish qualities and brown undertones.
Not your average beige, Rose Dust breaks away from the typical neutrals associated with spring by adding dimension with subtle rose and floral undertones. Taking purple in a lighter direction, Lavender, used in the satin finishes of this piece present a softer, more summery hue, extending the mystical aspects of purple available last fall. Both Rose Dust and Lavender are listed in the top 10 colours for the 2009 Spring Pantone Fashion Colour Report, recognised as an international guide for the world’s leading fashion designers.
Lucashenko said that originally the dress she had envisioned was mauve with pink lace and fresh water pearls but when it came time to collaborate materials and a colour palate, the Rose Dust and Lavender satin with the antique accents of pink lace and deep pink lace trim fell in place perfectly for her princess line gown. “I have always loved the designs of Garavani Valentino and the concept for my emphasised bow was influenced by a silk chiffon dress from his final collection last year” Lucashenko said.
