How many dynasties did Ancient China have

There were 40 dynasties from 2070 BCE to 1911 CE. There were someperiods of time in which there were multiple dynasties andkingdoms, so the timing does overlap for some dynasties and periodsof war.
Between 220-265 CE was the period of Three Kingdoms – three stateswith emperors who claimed legitimate succession from the Handynasties. Between 907-960 was the period of the Five Dynasties andTen Kingdoms. The Kingdom of Dali was significant between 937-1253.
