Especially in the Middle Ages, religion was followed by a large sum of the population and was, for many the simple answer to the meaning of life. For example, during the time of the Reformation, religion, specifically Christianity was a major percentage of their life; this entitled the church with a large amount of power. This led to a corruption of power as Martin Luther rebelled against it by writing the 95 theses regarding the church; which essentially filled up with abuses and comments on how the church has been constantly manipulating (McIntire).

The reaction on society was an impact that had changed religion forever; Martin Luther had created his separate church called Protestant Church This division gave the church less and less power, as the people rebelled against it, thus causing a drastic change in the society of what we now know as Germany (Modern World History Online). During the Dark Ages, the Crusades had a similar issue, only during this time was when the church was in the process of mistreating the followers.

History has it that all four of the Crusades had the most impact on religion between Muslims, Christians and Jews; it was a fight for the holy land of Jerusalem (Phillips). The Crusade wars caused for those three religions to go in hatred of each other, but unify as a group of people that shared the same belief or ideology. Similarly, a more modern example of this would be the split of the Indian Subcontinent. During the time of independence the India Subcontinent, went in to a breakout war of Hindus and Muslims.

This caused great tragedy as it was assigned that the Muslims will have their own country, Pakistan and the Hindus will have theirs, India(mrdowling. com). The different ideologies separated the two and caused hatred towards one another; the society that formed from this was a common hatred that united each individual nation and with that came a theocratic government for Pakistan (mrdowling. com). This system of government later shaped the society of new born country, Pakistan. In terms of ideologies, government was the most direct form of a society change.

People in power always have the right to make the decisions for the nation, thus basing a society on the type of government in power. During the period of the medieval time, the king decided to use the feudal system for the base of controlling land by separating land by land, all bits in control of lords (middle-ages. org). This division caused a drastic change in the society of Britain, as peasants were situated in such small areas that they hadn’t had any idea about the king that ruled them, they were only concerned with the lords they pay rent to (middle-ages. rg).

Another affect that arouse from this government system, was the difference between social class and income. The lords and members of the monarchy were making a fortune whilst the peasants got poorer and poorer (middle-ages. org). Likewise happens during the French Revolution where the class is so unevenly divided: 1% of the population was the Clergy, 2% of the population was the Noblemen and 97% were listed as everyone else (Union County College Faculty). This shaped society based on the class you were in.

The segregation of society all originated with the governmental system; and this is what creates tension in a nation as the question of equality is constantly brought up for the lower social classes (Union County College Faculty). A modern reoccurrence of government influencing society is the current situation in Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe is governed by a dictator, Robert Mugabe and due to his governmental rank he shapes society in a way that represses cocasions in the country as he was originally a freedom fighter freeing the local Zimbabweans under the rule of the British (Johnson).

The only white man you can trust is a dead white man” -Robert Mugabe (BrainyQuotes). This specific type of government makes the people fearful and scared, with a society that represses the government. This causes tension within the country itself, and instability throughout the nation (Johnson). Through the ideology of government, rulers tend to shape their society basing on laws enforced, ways of ruling and sometimes their own freewill. We all, transcended through history are part of a society in which took their individual path.

United as one, enabled each nation to progress ifferently and live completely different lives based upon the ideology that each nation chose to live by. Early times, which so greatly emphasized the importance of religion, illustrated an ideology that was so influential to the building of each society as to most people during the Dark Ages and Middle Ages was the main reason to live. Religion was so highly regarded that it took the place of the government, another important aspect to the change in a society. Government was an essential detail in which changed a society, as historic trends suggest for it to be the main direct cause for such change and the way we all live today.

These historic trends help decide on how different societies will later develop and progress; each nation will consider the most suitable ideology that will cause a society in which would be most superior and affective, a weapon for the future, a highly effective tool, which can be used to any societies benefit.
