How did the Persian Wars affect both Greeks and Persians

Athens used the anti-Persian league, when peace was arranged, as the basis for an empire of its own and interfered in other Greek states which set up the Peloponnesian League to counter this. War ensued and Athens was defeated by the League, and lost its empire.

Persia reestablished control of its empire, less the Greek states liberated in the Persian War. Persia got its own back by supportig the Peloponnesian League against Athens in the later stage of that war.
