Why was the battle of plataea a turning point for for the Greeks

Having defeated the Persian fleet at Salamis the previous year, they now defeated their army at Plataia, collapsing the Persian invasion. This secured the Greek mainland from attack, and the following thirty years was spent in defeating the Persians in Asia Minor until they gave up their attempts to control the Grek cities.
