Alexander the Great spread Hellenism, the Hellenic (Greek) cultureof the Macedonians, to all the lands he conquered, over the MiddleEast and far into Asia. After his death in 323 BCE, the influenceof Greek civilization continued to expand over the Mediterraneanworld and West Asia. This was known as the Hellenistic Era.
