There was no ‘war for Greek unification’. The Persian War 499-449 BCE was an attempt by Persia to impose peace on the Greek city-states. When this failed after 50 years, the Persians gave up and left them to it, and the Greek city-states were able to go back to their usual continuous fighting amongst themselves.

Then followed the 27-year Peloponnesian War between confederations led by Athens and Sparta respectively, which devastated Greece for 27 years, and this in turn was folled by more back-to-back wars between the Greek cities until this was ended by the rise of Macedonia to dominance 70 years later.
