Alexander’s winning streak has to be broken up into three parts: what weapons helped him win, how did his soldiers fight, and how did he utilize the enemy’s weaknesses? To answer the first one: the Sarissa. This is a 21 foot long spear used for taking out soldiers without being in any danger. For the second question, Alexander’s soldiers believed him to be a god, and as long as he’s alongside them, they will never loose. This not only boosted their morale but ultimately turned them superhuman, taking more risk, and using more force, pumping their adrenaline. The last question is answered by how all of his opponents used a form of chariot warfare. Because they used scythes on their chariots, Alexander let them charge towards him, and at the last moment, he would open his ranks and let the slip into the center of the ranks, which would eventually collapse of the charioteer, and he would be stabbed by the soldiers surrounding him. But i believe Alexander’s victory boils down to his ingenuity and ability to use his surroundings to rule the world.
