In the conquering of Judea and the exiling of its people, many tens of thousands were killed or died of privation. This is recorded, in poetic verse, in Lamentations (1:3, 1:20, 2:12, 2:19 and 2:21, for example).

Additionally, there is corroboration for the conquest of Judah in the Babylonian Chronicle which seems to match the Biblical scenario.
