Chandra Gupta was the first ruler of the Indian empire, he had royal officials/ supervised roads, harbors, taxes, factories, and shipyards ( public works ). he had women as warriors.also – Chandra’s grandson (268BCE) started a war to expand the empire, and brought peace and prosperity, he built hospitals, Buddhist shrines, roads and rest houses. Division and disunity broke forth and Maurya declined power after his death, in 185BCE unity shattered and the prince’s fought. foreigners pushed through and passed into north India. the golden age of the Gupta’ s was in 320 to 550 AD. the Gupta dynasty units India, there strong central government promoted peace and prosperity once again and enjoyed there golden age – the period of great cultUral achievements.
