Sennacherib (Akkadian Sin-ahhi-eriba (“(Moon god) Sin has replaced (lost) brothers for me”) was the son of Sargon II, whom he succeeded on the throne of Assyria (704 – 681 BC).DeathSennacherib was assassinated by two of his sons.
