Alexander the Great (d. 323 BC/BCE) had a profound impact on hishome-society of Macedon: for a brief but glorious period as aresult of Alexander’s conquests, Macedon ruled most of theMediterranean Basin, North Africa, the Middle East, and the NearEast. At the same time, these conquests spread Greek culturethroughout the ‘civilized’ world, which impacted the conqueredsocieties both at the time and for generations to come.
