I’m not sure of the book you speak, but i know that Minos presented a spiral seashell to Daedalus at one point, or planned to, and asked that a string be run through the middle of it. The task was completed by Daedalus placing a drop of honey on the end and having an ant run the string through the shell on its way to the honey. Does this help?
