King Nebuchadnezzar II was the son ofNabopolassar who came from the Marduk-worshiping Kaldu tribesliving in the extreme southern part of Babylonia. Nabopolassarstarted the Chaldean period (626-539 B.C.) by restoring Babylonianindependence, following the fall of the Assyrian Empire in 605. Wecan say for sure he was an Acadian speaking Babylonian.
