Why was Hammurabi Code of ancient Mesoptamian society so important

The Code of Hammurabi goes back to a time when people fleeing theDeluge were struggling to survive. Anarchy was prevalent and therights of others were being violated, especially the indigenouspopulations. Hammurabi is not the name of a single king but thepeople called Hammurabi. These people were the nobles of the lostcontinent of Havilah plus the train of individuals of lower class.The sinking of Havilah was acomplished in several stages with ampletime to flee. These people eventually became known as theBabylonians as this was the region of the Tigris-Euphrates rivervalley called Babylon. This document is important because it wasdrawn to provide the populace for a guide to restore civilization.It is one of the oldest documents of considerable length that hasbeen translated. It was so powerful that many of its idioms arestill in use today.
