The earliest civilization started in southwestern Asia on the fertile crescent!
These civilizations depended on the surplus. But because of the low rainfall it caused the farmers to use a technique called irrigation. They used the two rivers located in the fertile crescent, Euphrates and Tigris and dug trenches coming from the rivers and leading to their crops which allowed the water to flow into the crops causing them to grow and create surplus which lead to trading. These traders would trade their goods for resources that could not be grown in the fertile crescent. Now people who lived in these civilizations could have resources that they had never even thought of!
