Why is it named kush

The name is a modern way of saying the ancient Egyptian word kAS – this is really three consonants, k+3+s or k+3+sh (3 represents the glottal stop, also found in Hebrew and Arabic). We can never know how this word should really be pronounced, but Kush is a generally accepted attempt, though probably completely incorrect.
