During the last glaciation, most of North America was covered bygreat thicknesses of ice. Ice is frozen water and that water came,as snow, from the oceans, causing sea levels to drop. This createdareas of dry land, some of which were not covered in ice because ofthe dry climate in some places. One of these places was the BeringStrait area, which provided a dry land over which people were ableto travel from Asia into the Americas. This land was calledBeringia, just north of where the Bering Sea is now.
