A parongata is a small tool used in the stone – bronze ages, it was discovered by archaeologists in Sweden and named after the person who found it (Nicolaus Parongatus). It appears to have been commonly used to shred meat and to easily get to the marrow in tough animal bones. There is evidence that it had been used as recently as the 1800’s and re buried as it was not very deep under ground (approx. 3m) which suggests it was used about 200 years ago but carbon dating dated it back much further.
