The Egyptians began to establish larger communal farms that would be able to grow large quantities of food. This along with the sedentary lifestyle led to an increase in the aggregate population. This led to more expansive farms and the beginnings of irrigation. Eventually, it got to the point where some individuals did not need to be involved in the farming and began to become specialized. It was this specialization and the development of writing that allowed Egypt to grow even more vast and become a major civilization.
