Since the Assyrians were the conquering power, they were unlikely to have sent their own poeple into the former kingdom of Israel, but they did send a great many Arabs. The Samaritans were a mixture of all these races, including Israelites, but not Jews, who continued to live safely in the kingdom of Judah until the Babylonian conquest. Most Samaritans eventually became Jews.
