After this three leadingCaesarians, Marc Antony, Lepidus and Octavian formed an Alliance,which historians call the Second Triumvirate (three-man alliance).The triumvirs decided to fight Brutus and Cassius, the leaders ofthe conspiracy to murder Caesar, who had fled to the easternterritories of Rome to rally military support there. This led tothe Liberatores Civil War, in which the triumvirate defeated theBrutus and Cassius and their optimate forces
