The Tigris river flows from the mountains of southeastern Turkey through Iraq.
The Euphrates flows through Syria and Iraq to join the Tigris in the Shatt al-Arab, which flows into the Persian Gulf. Together these two rivers are the boundaries of Mesopotamia.
