What were the Phoenician cities like

Being known as seafarers , their cities were coastal and centered on ports & dockage.
Shipping, merchants, trading, commodities and commerce of all sorts was the flavor of Phoenician public life.

The Phoenicians arrived in the Mediterranean around the First Millennium BCE. They did not desire land. They went looking for anchorage on the major trade routes since their main interest was commerce. They lacked the resources to found large colonies. They continually searched for new commodities to add to their trade.
