La Terra Roberts Composition 2 Bethany May April 19, 2013 Could the issue of college tuition being too expensive be resolved? How? The price of college tuition being too high is a very hard solution to solve. But, I believe if everyone came to life and used their senses then maybe the problem could be resolved. It may take a while for this to happen for some, especially for those who are living above their means and can’t except the fact that the cost of college is breaking their pockets. I look at this situation as in anything worth having is worth compromising for, like having a college Education.

Looking at the economy that we live in today, it is somewhat hard to maintain in the world without an education and success. Therefore, I believe that if everyone could afford an education then they’d at least try to seek for one. No matter how your education is chosen, online, through a technical college, or community college you should always go for what is best and affordable for you. Education is a very powerful thing. The saying knowledge is power is true, but nowadays it cost way too much to get an education. “At certain colleges tuition raises almost every year. (Dworjan) And I think I attend one that does, because when I was a freshman in college it did not cost me as much as it does now. I know that the cost of classes vary but I’m not only talking about classes, I’m speaking on the tuition overall, as such as the room and board and all these extra fees that us students get charged with. Like for instance, basketball game fees, gym fees, swimming pool fees, and the city bus fees. I think they are all a waste of some people’s money, because not everyone attends the basketball games, use the gym, go to the pool, or ride the city bus.

That’s why I say that college tuition should decrease because it is unfairly expensive. There are so many people in debt behind getting an education that I’m starting to think there is no way around it in the United States. “Tuition only covers a certain percentage for the cost of college. ” (Dworjan) Students who don’t have scholarships has a harder task to maintain when choosing there university. There’s one suggestion that I’d acknowledge about this situation, and that is for you to choose your choice of college wisely.

It is said that there is a certain college for everyone; you just have to find one that fits you and your estimated family contribution. (Dworjan) So, don’t go out and try to attend a college that is far over your limit and then you end up not having enough financial aid, scholarship, or money to pay. Reason being is because that causes for people to pull out loans and lots of money that would eventually put you in debt. Loan fee sometimes take forever to pay off and this causes debt. And being in debt could take many years for a person to get out of.

One other factor that people wanting to attend college is to consider what type of education it is that they’re wanting. Therefore, “we should look into the type of education that we’ll receive for the cost. ” (Dworjan) Then you should determine if you could earn that same level of education within another college institution, and if so then go for it. After, you have done all of your research about the education you will be receiving try summing it up with the initial requirements of each college. Some institutions may ask for more classes to be taken than others in order to earn a specific degree. Dworjan) Like for instance, I attend UALR at the moment but in my near future I’ll be attending another school for the nursing program. Why? Because here at UALR they want too much out of a student before they can be accepted into their nursing program. So I figure, why not go to a cheaper school, with a more hands on environment, that I won’t have to pay more for by having to take extra classes and I could still receive the same education as I would at UALR. By me transferring, I’ll have more money for myself and less tuition that I’d have to pay out of pocket. This saves time and money and it could be done by anyone.

To me having to take classes such as a fine art or dance is unnecessary. I mean that just takes up extra money that not everyone has. Meanwhile, if you chose to go to a technical college then you wouldn’t have to take all of these extra college courses. It is very important to only take what you need and is necessary for while in college. And by doing that you’ll graduate on time and will not be wasting your time or money. So if you can’t afford all of the extra course activities then maybe you should consider taking fewer classes or going to another college that fits your benefits more.

Studying aboard is another thing that us Americans should keep in mind when considering a college education. However, there are some countries that offer free college education. For example countries that are “European or Scandinavian have free college tuition because the tuition is often financed by state-taxes” and government. (Morgan. Line 5) Therefore they offer tuition-free undergraduate studies for international studies for international students who meet all the requirements. (Morgan. Lines 7-8) The requirements are mainly examinations that prove the students are qualified for the international program.

And these are places such as Norway, Germany, and Sweden, and all they all have free tuition. So, the only worries that you’ll have would possibly be about the cost of your books and other non-educational duties. The price of attending college could be so frustrating. But if we could get rid of unnecessary fees and choose the right college intuition for us than it would not be such a hassle. I know some of us have our dream college that we wish to attend but it is sometimes impossible if we don’t have the funds to pay.

So, that’s when we wake up and come into reality to see that particular colleges are not for you if the funds aren’t there and they’re not offering you a scholarship. My overall solution to this problem is for people to do their research about colleges that want to attend, so they can determine if it’ll make or break them. Something that we all should do when thinking about going off to college is to know our limits. This should not take a large amount of time or money if you’re on the right path. College is simply a choice, so I advise you to make a wise one. Works Cited Dworjan, Tania. College Tuition Costs and Comparisons. ” Love to Know Cooperation. 2006-2013. La Terra Roberts Bethany May Composition 2 April 19, 2013 Proposal Argument Letter During the time I spent on completing my proposal essay I learned simple things about the cost of college tuition that I didn’t even think about. I chose this topic because I felt as if it was a big deal in the world today.

And also my parents didn’t have to face this situation while they were my age so that’s another reason why I chose to write about this particular subject. My topic was easy to write about once I started gathering all my information. In all honesty I actually enjoyed the project of the proposal essay, it may be my favorite essay out of all the ones that we’ve done. As to this essay being the last one that the class is assigned, I believe that my writing has gotten better. And I now know more ways to express myself without just running on. The skills that I used for this particular essay was informative and persuasive writing.

My proposal was meant to inform people about knowledge upon college tuition. I also think that if we weren’t to use sources within this writing then I still would’ve done fairly well because the solutions to my problem are common sense. In my opinion my work for this essay is B+ quality. If we had just a few more days to complete this assignment I would be driven to have an A+ on this essay. The only technique that I’m a little curious about is the structure of my writing, and which is something that I’ll be working on in the future. -La Terra Roberts
