What leadership models/theories/issues do you see in this case? List and describe Leadership issues that I found in this case, is that it is not so easy for a leader to “pop out of nowhere (Robbins & Coulter, 2011, p. 482),”the case states. People think that if you graduated from an Ivy League or well rated school that you are smart and ready to run a business, which is not true. It is hard to find somebody trustworthy and one who uses their head to figure out problems and new ideas rather than the Internet and outside help.

A theory Buckley believes in building a great leader, is for the person to be able to take something from the business that has been developed and go beyond what has been done and think strategically about what else they can do to expand their brand using what they already have. One of the greatest advices Buckley says, is the a leader should not be promoted too soon, a leader needs to stay in his position for some time and get use the achievements and the problems he will be facing. If a leader does not face any problems while in his position, he has not been in his position for a good amount of time.

Take each of the six leadership attributes that the company feels is important. Explain what you think each one involves. Then discuss how those attributes might be developed and measure. Energize and inspire others-I believe this attribute involves motivating employees to do their best. When you have a leader or manager that shows love for his work, he or she carries this on to others. From personal experience, I have had managers who hated their job and this made me not want to be at work; everything was negative.

I now have a manager who loves what she does and truly loves helping people and her positive energy and passion most definitely rubs off on me! Demonstrate ethics-Ethics is what keeps the company organized and running the way it does. There are many ethics in a business; how to dress, how to act, what time to arrive at work, what to do in certain situations, and so on. When employees see upper management demonstrate right from wrong, it gives them a showing of what they are expected to do and not do, at work.

Integrity/Compliance-Integrity and Compliance can also be said translated to “honesty. ” Honestly is key, especially with your employees. Managers need to be honest with themselves, the company, and employees because this builds trust amongst everyone. When there is trust and integrity there is peace amongst workers. Managers need to illustrate this to show their employees the right way. Deliver results-Before delivering results, manager’s needs to set a goal. Managers to see where the company is going strong, and where it is hurting, after this, they can change things around.

I believing delivering results means not only talking about change and wanting the business to get better, but actually implementing plans and taking charge to make sure they are complete. When the managers or leaders show their employees they follow through, one again is it positive actions that the employees see. Raise the bar-You cannot always remain at the same pace and doing the same thing that just “works,” you want to continue booming in your company and making sure it keeps rising to the top.

Raising the bar is something that makes employees never tired with their job, while using their minds to continue creating brilliant ideas. Raising the bar also gives employees harder tasks and motivation to make sure they achieve it. Innovate resourcefully- this term fits well with the recession we are in at the moment. I believe innovating resourcefully once again goes back with building something bigger with something you already have. Lets say you are increasing your business’s technology, work with what you have first, and from their increase the benefits you can add.

Work with less to achieve more is my motto on this term! 4. What did this case teach you about leadership? This case taught me that leadership does not only have to do with bossing people around and commanding people do their work. This case taught me that a leader needs to show initiatives of wanting to work and setting goals and actually going through with them. When your employees see how passionate you are and how thoughtful and willing to help them learn more, they will do their best.

The environment around where we works sets the mood, and it is the leaders job to make sure the environment is one where people actually want to work in. I also learned that leaders are not easy to find. Because someone graduated from a fancy university, does not mean they are fit to be a leader. A leaders needs to be trustworthy and good at strategic thinking. It is not the easiest job to be a leader, but it is quite rewarding.
