Our weapons today are the strongest and deadliest we have ever seen. Does that mean that no one should own them? Many people strongly believe that no one should be able to own a gun in the United States. The opinions on why can vary. Although the majority of the anti-gun group have the agreement that guns are a danger. The truth is, they are very dangerous if used incorrectly. One of their main sayings is “Guns kill people”. They’re right, guns do kill people and if a gun is placed in the wrong hands it is almost certain that someone will get hurt.

According to Mayorsagainstillegalguns. org 34 Americans are murdered with guns everyday, that’s 12,410 people murdered in a year with a gun. In the past decade guns have been getting out of control, there have been numerous plans and campaigns all about gun control. None of them seem to really be effective. Although for many years there have been many anti-gun groups and campainges theyre not the only ones with strong feelings towards guns. For as many anti-gun activists there are in America there are just as many if not more pro gun activists.

The largest pro gun group in America is the NRA (National Rifle Association). They are a group dedicated to protecting the second amendment. Pro gun activists believe that owning a gun is every citizen’s right. It’s true, the right to bear arms is the second amendment in the constition of the United States. Unlike the anti gun supporters they believe that guns in general are not the problem, it’s the illegal guns that are the problem. Unfortunatley the illegal gun owners are the people who give guns a bad reputation.

The pro gun side is strongly for using guns for hunting, sport and most of all protection. On the pro gun side the majority feels that every home should have a gun. Owning a gun can reduce crime. For example, an illegal gun owner with his gun intrudes your house at night with your family in it looking for anything of value. He will harm anyone in his path to get what he wants. Without a gun you are almost defenseless against someone with a gun. What do you do when someone wants to harm your family in your own home, how do you defend yourself?

The answer is a gun. Owning a gun does not mean that the owner should walk around with it and use it whenever he/she feels like. The point is to be responsible with the weapon and to use it to hunt or sport, or a last resort of self-defense. The cause of a murder is never the weapon, it is the person behind the weapon. There’s an old saying, “there’s always three sides to a story. Two stories and the truth. ” In this argument on guns there are many opinions and yet so many facts. A fact is that yes guns do kill people and are extremely dangerous.

But does this mean that the anti-gun group is right? No, its just a fact that both parties must agree upon. Unfortunatley in this case no one is wrong and no one is right. This is an opinion of a large group of individuals. When dealing in a case like this its just like any 2 people having an argument, you must separate fact from opinion. The facts are, owning a gun is a right, guns can do significant damage, a gun can be an incredible thing to own if used properly and yet if in the wrong hands, it can cause a catastrophy.

In this argument both parties are correct pertaining to particular points. The anti gun side is correct in the concept that guns are a danger to society. Guns are obviously dangerous when used improperly. Its an undeniable fact that dozens of people are murdered daily in the United States with a gun. The place that they are incorrect in the overall statement is that guns do not kill people. People kill people. The pro gun side makes a very good point, being able to own a gun is a right of an American citizen. Both sides have
