The idea of a cell phone has been around since the nineteenth century. A cell phone is also referred to as a mobile phone, or a cellular device. The first cellular device was invented in 1973 by Martin Cooper. This mobile telephone was the size of a brick! Ever since this invention, the cell phone has become the most prevalent piece of technology. Nowadays, the majority of people in the world possess a cell phone. One country in particular that is very popular when it comes to cell phones is the United States of America. The United States has four major cell phone companies which include.

These companies have made a big improvement to the cell phone industry. Instead of people having to carry around a brick with them, they could now carry a cell phone that is thin in width and a couple inches in length. Cell phones have improved the lives of people in the United States because they assist people in communications, convenience, and emergency contact. Through communication, people’s lives have been changed for the better in the United States. For example, some families may live in separate states. One part of someone’s family could be in Arizona, while the other part could be living in Washington.

If there was no cell phone available to the family in Arizona, they would most likely not have a good relationship with their family in Washington due to poor communication. Since cellular devices have become so advanced the families can keep up with each other due to two main ways of communicating with their mobile phones. Those ways include texting and talking. Since texting has been added to the format of a cell phone, the families can now just send simple messages back and forth to each other, rather than having to actually talk to each other over their landlines which could be limited and costly.

Cell phones also enable a means of convenience for people in the United States. Most people in the United States go grocery shopping with a shopping list. Sometimes they leave those lists at home and forget what they went to the store to get in the first place. Now normally the person would have to go back home to pick up the list; however, since almost every person owns a cell phone, they no longer have to return home to get the list. They can instead use their cell phone to call home to get the list, or have someone at home text them the list which would be much more convenient.

Another situation that could occur would be a family vacationing to an unknown city. The problem arises when they lose their directions. The cellular device then becomes a convenient device for them to use. This is because of internet access and GPS location that the cell phone provides, thus giving the family correct directions to their destination. One last thing the cell phone has done to affect the lives of people in the United States is that it has allowed people to make emergency contact calls. For instance, if someone is traveling on an unfamiliar route and their vehicle breaks down then it could frighten them.

But, if they have a cellular device on hand, they can simply make a 911 call to have the law enforcement/ roadside assistance come help and assist them. This will come in handy because usually there are only call boxes on the well know highways and interstates. Another example where a cell phone is useful is if someone is involved in a car accident. During situations like these, time is of the upmost importance and the quicker a phone call for help is made may make all the difference when it comes to saving someone’s life. In conclusion, cell phones have drastically improved the lives of people in the United States.

People across the U. S. are now able to communicate with friends and family that do not live close to them. Cell phones make it a lot more convenient to communicate to others while running errands so that no backtracking is necessary. One last thing mobile phones have done is that they allow people who are in troublesome situations to make emergency contact calls. All around cell phones have greatly improved people’s lives, and yet they have barely begun to modernize. Years from now cell phones will be able to do many new things for people that they can only imagine.
