Medicine and Higher Education

My health struggles enforced my desire to achieve something for me, something that will make me happy and affect others in the same manner. During my early years I was diagnosed with Epilepsy and shortly after Diabetes. As a result, I became to feel defeated robbed of life without a medical set-back. I was truly unfamiliar with the disease(s) constant hypoglycemic attacks and my enormous fear of driving because of my Epilepsy. It was a hindrance indeed but I did not want it to get the best of me. I wondered what self-pity was going to do for me. But in the midst of this critical time I managed to snap out of it.

It was like I had received a revelation. I promised myself that I will try any and everything in my power to “TRY” and let the feeling of defeat not flourish within me. My love for the medical field became more powerful and I am glad that it has. It took me out of a one way dead end street, one of the worst experiences in my life. My struggle of remaining healthy and my parents fight to create a better life for their children encouraged me to pursue success through a higher education and hence my desire to become a healthcare professional. Explain your plan for achieving these goals. Include your degree/major, why you selected it, and how this degree/major will help you achieve your goals. My educational goal is to strive higher than what I have and what had already achieved. This idea alone has led me to choose a career in medicine, knowing that there is always a place to go, to learn, grow with a challenge but most of all the ability to change lives. I have very long and thoroughly thought about what I wanted to do with my life while in High School and my ambition to evolve into a physician has never changed from since I can remember.

I have chosen a more non-traditional way to get to that point by starting of as a nurse. My intention is to attain as much of experience that in can possible receive in order to excel and become proficient in the medical field. This introduction to the medical field will give me a better outlook on what is to come, allowing meto become best Physician I can be. I chose a route that I considered a step by step process so I am convinced that attending San Antonio‘s CollegeNursing programwill be the foundation of an amazing career.

Explain why you deserve to receive a scholarship, and how receiving a scholarship will help you achieve your goals. q I believe that I am deservant of this scholarship because, I have come to the realization that Medicine is not just me; it is a composite of me and there wouldn’t be a Zainab Ford without it. I consider it somehow an impossible factor to be a true healthcare professional without a personality and different components that create an individual. In other words I am convinced a Nurse or Physician should consist of more than just 1 attribute.

The core of who I have become, I believe describes the main foundation of a dedicated healthcare professional such as empathy, commitment in addition to an indestructible love to care and strive to excel in your craft. I am a hard worker who does not quit or gives up on anything that becomes challenging, demanding or hard to relate to. The ability to instill hope and faith in a person that suffers is unbelievable. My commitment to it is unquestionable. I believe I am a deserving person of a scholarship because i am committed to love my profession and my strong desire alone suffices the meaning of the expression: “What one was born to do. ”
