The following will outline the review of the University of Phoenix Student Code of Conduct and Student Code of Academic Integrity. Now that I have read the policy, it makes sense since the work was completed for another class and that by “double dipping” the student has not learned anything more to earn the grade. Professors need to be able to judge the skills and knowledge level of the student with each new assignment and keeps the focus on academic excellence. Everything else was straight forward and logical expectations of students. The codes are a set of expectations offered by the university to ensure fair and objective treatment for students. In addition, the codes are similar to that of any employer.

What did you learn about the behaviors considered important for an ethical learner or student in the University of Phoenix learning community? The one thing that stuck out most in the academic integrity code was that integrity is found and valued in every profession and community. As students at UOPX we are expected to be stewards of our academic community and to act with morality. These policies are preparing UOPX students for their chosen careers and teaching that actions have consequences. Learning to act responsibly, to use independent thought, and to have respect for others are important lesson to learn to be successful in life.

Why are the Student Code of Conduct and Student Code of Academic Integrity important to you and the UOPX learning community? Honor is moral and ethical conduct and pride of ownership in a community that values academic achievement and independent responsibility. Cultivating honor lays the foundation for life long integrity and provides a road map for students to follow as a guide to success. It is essential that you maintain your integrity throughout life. Based on experience, once integrity is lost it is very difficult to earn it back.
