They used battering rams,
(some of which were joined to moveable towers, which held warriors and men. In some cases the battering ram was without wheels and constructed on the spot and not intended to be moved.)
Artificial towers
(built as high as the battlements of the defenders (often on top of moveable battering rams), and usually occupied by 2 men, one an archer and the other holding a shield for his companion’s defence .)

Shields
-Circular (approx 3 ft radius)

-Rectangular (approx 3 ft tall and 2 ft wide,
as used by shield-bearers on the artificial towers to protect archers.)

-Rectangular, very large (up to 6 ft by 3-3.5 ft wide). This was a high curved shield which, resting on the groune, protected the persons of the beseigers entirely from the spaers and arrows of the enemy. Each of these remarkeable shields screened 2 warriors, one of whom had charge of the shield, while the other shot his arrows.

Sharpened stakes
(to impale prisoners to terrorize the defenders.)

Bows
(short conventional bows [ not longbows], with copper and iron arrowheads.)

Chariots and horses
Chariots held 2-3 men, and were drawn by a pair of horses with often a third tethered alongside as a ‘spare’ in case one of the other horses was wounded or killed.
