The Ashfall Fossil Beds are located in Nebraska. When the Yellowstone super volcano erupted between 10 and 12 million years ago, an enormous blanket of ash buried many animals, which were preserved as fossils to the present day. It was discovered when the skull of a rhino was seen sticking out of a gully wall in 1971. I couldn’t find the name of the discoverer.
