The central region of Iraq is defined by Mesopotamia which has ariddeserts and two powerful rivers, the Tigris and Euphrates, thatallow for irrigated farmland along its banks. Mesopotamia is notespecially mountainous or flat and is rather easy to access. Iraqhas regions outside of Mesopotamia like the Zagros Mountains in theeast, the Kurdish Highlands in the north, and the Anbar Deserts inthe west.
