Status of women in ancient India

women rights were pretty good, they had rights and were able to inherit property,but the formation of social structures of a non agricultural middle class caused them to lose their rights of owning or inheriting properties.Were expected to obey fathers,husband and then sons.Were married at early age, about 6 or 7 to make sure they were “pure”.Though some women found freedom in Buddhist religious communities or women from powerful families were trained in music or art as well as sexual pleasure…um hookers :/
