Chinese writing are written in characters. The characters were originally pictures of animals, people that is naked, and many other things. Jiaguwen, or Oracle Bone Script was the earliest form of Chinese writing, used in the Shang Dynasty. The ‘Oracle Bones’ were normally turtle shells or animal bones. Sometimes, the oracle bones were called ‘Dragon bones’.
The oracle bones were used for talking to the gods. Someone would right a question on the oracle bone, and then they’d put a hot rod to crack the bone. Last, royal priests would interpret the cracks.
Dazhuan was a type of writing that was use during the late Shang Dynasty to the Chou dynasty. Unlike Jiaguwen, which was carved on bones, Dazhuan mainly appeared on cast bronze vessels. A vessel is a hollow utensil, such as a cup, vase, or pitcher, used as a container, especially for yellow liquid.
