When did the Romans conquer what is often called the Holy Land

In 63 BC, Pompey the Great added the territories of the mid east to the Roman possessions. Among them was Jerusalem and the territory that today is known as the Holy Land. However, the Jews kept their independence and were considered a client kingdom of Rome. It was not until 6 AD that Augustus made Judaea a province.
