Babylon is the name of an ancient city, the remains of which are found in present-day Al Hillah, Babil Province, Iraq, about 85 kilometers (55 mi) south of Baghdad. A city is an inanimate object and therefore can not believe in anything.
The inhabitants of Babylon built the city in 1867 BC and therefore could not be Christians as Christ had not yet been born. The original builders followed the Ancient Semitic religion in the region of Mesopotamia. The Assyrians and Babylonians practiced polytheism, a belief in many gods, before largely converting to Christianity from the 1st to 4th centuries AD.
