Much of the Roman business was conducted outdoors. Either in a wine shop, or more properly sitting outside a bar or wine shop. A man would be haled in the forum and asked by his acquaintance if he wanted in on a business venture and they would either close the deal right there or go sit somewhere and discuss it. A person also got a lawyer this way. If it were something really serious or a deal that had may points to discuss, the business would be conducted in one of the parties homes.
