Mesopotamian religion refers to the religiousbeliefs and practices followed by the Sumerian and East SemiticAkkadian, Assyrian and Babylonian peoples living in Mesopotamia(approximately the area of modern Iraq and north east Syria) thatdominated the region for a period of 4200 years from the fourthmillennium BC throughout Mesopotamia to approximately the 10thcentury AD in Assyria. The Mesopotamians worshipped a lot ofdifferent gods and goddesses, this is known as polytheism. Eachcity had their own god or goddess.
