When was the date the roman numerals began

Contrary to popular belief the Romans did not invent the Roman numeral system but it was invented by the Etruscans who once ruled the Romans.

The Etruscans were using these numerals, centuries if not for thousands of years before the rise of the Roman Empire.

Not much in history is known about the mysterious Etruscans they were simply known in ancient times as the people of the sea.
